There was one staple left on the incision and caused it to rip and drain. The lump on her back appears to be a sebaceous cyst, but we will know more by the end of the week when Dr. S gets back. Her growing mass is uncomfortable for her. Other than all of that… Ruby is doing quite well. I did tell her I thought another surgery might be overkill. That I would rather her live out her life until it’s time to go. We will see what the Doctor says later this week.
I called and spoke with the Vet’s office in Ft. Wayne. Ruby is doing alright. She was a little nervous at first and wouldn’t eat, but now she has come around to being her happy self again. They haven’t checked her thoroughly yet, but are checking her later today. Dr. S is out of town until Thursday. I explained to them what happened last week with the pulling of fluid as hemorrhage. She said that the mass does seem to bother her when they touch it. We discussed the lump on her back in between her shoulder blades, they are going to look at that better today also. Part of me wants to drive there today to just pick her up and bring her home, but I have to keep stopping myself. The tech said that the tiny hole on the incision was leaking a little still and this is why I can not just go get her. She needs that corrected. I won’t be able to talk to Dr. S until Thursday which so happens to be my day off. I will most likely drive there to discuss Ruby in person and not over the phone. Hopefully by then I will know more about what is going to happen. Worse case scenario… I will bring her home to live out her days until she is no longer participating in life activities and then end her suffering. Ruby is strong though and I don’t see her giving up anytime soon. Thru this entire process she has never shown us that she suffers. She just wants to be a dog and do her job of protecting the pack. I miss her terribly and think of her constantly. It has got to get better for her. Somehow someway, better.
I took this photo awhile back. Ruby playing with her brother. She has the largest fangs ever! so proud!!
