I’ve waited to call the Vet until today to give Ruby that time to heal and I worked all weekend. I am waiting for them to return my call as their office is closed today. I do not have an update yet, but I expect to hear from them soon. I hope that the seepage stopped and I can finally bring her home. Missing her. a lot.

sixth day post op
I went and visited Ruby today. She was very happy to see me. She had the wrap off when I arrived and I was able to see the incision and her stump. It was still seeping which is why they are continuing to keep her in the hospital until this weekend. The Vet wants her to stay until the staples come out to prevent anything going wrong with this transition in her life. The plan is to bring her home by the weekend or at the latest next Monday. I’m really thankful that she is seeing Ruby thru this first stage of healing. I’m anxious to bring her home of course, but she still needs some more time to heal that cut. I took pics and videos of her to document our journey. Ruby is a fighter and going strong. Many people worked to help make this possible for her to succeed on three. I wasn’t as shocked as I thought I would be when I saw her naked butt and where the leg use to be. I think this website and all the videos that I’ve watched on youtube helped me a great deal. Supportive friends and people that we are meeting pull us through this time in our lives. Just a few more days, Ruby and you will be home!!
today I visit
I am going to drive to Ft. Wayne after I get off work and go see Ruby today
Ruby UPDATE 9317
Ruby UPDATE! She is doing really well. The wound is seeping a bit and the Vet changed her bandage again today. I believe the Vet is falling in love with her. She was asking me her history and where I got her. I told her that she was a farm dog that was killing the cats and I rehomed her for my niece. She became a good Service Dog for me with my disability in the short time that I have had her (3 or 4 months) and that possibly she does not really care for men, she is more of a woman’s dog. She asked if she had ever been abused because she noticed she coward once when she corrected another dog by raising her voice. I said not to my knowledge, but she is leery of men. She did confirm with me to just leave her in the hospital this week and not bring her to visit me tomorrow in Anderson. I do not want to excite her too much and chance her ripping the incision. I said I would come to Ft. Wayne this week on one of my days off to see her instead. I think it’s easier for me to travel to her rather than uproot and bring her back here. Eating, hopping and alert. The girl is on the mend!!! She is also on Gabapentin, which is one of my MS medicines that I have used for Nerve Pain. No longer on IV’s though, which is good to hear. She has already figured out the Vets office and has her own huge yard to run there.
