the grant and goodies

So relieved and happy I found this site.  Thanks for all the GREAT support through this for Ruby here.  I am writing the essay and applying for the Vet Bill assistance for the low income.  I will also apply for the harness to help lift her back end up.  Grateful that it is offered.  I hope to help others going thru this in the future with all that I am learning about it.  I do not have the final bill from the Vet yet and probably won’t receive it until she comes home which might be two weeks.  Not sure if I need to wait before I submit my application until I get that final bill.  Regardless, I’m writing up our essay and getting everything in order to submit for it.  Luckily my friend Rachel created a gofundme campaign and helped us raise a little money to start the amputation.  Never would have imagined we would be where we are now and going through this ordeal.  Thanks for helping us!

two days post surgery

Ruby got a blood transfusion yesterday.  Only 19% blood, day after the surgery.   She thinks that she is bleeding from the bone on this inside because she had to cut her up high.  Heavy bleeder.  They had a donor dog that donated the blood, no charge. The Vet would like to keep her an additional week until the staples come out, no charge. I told her that was ok with me. She offered to bring her to Anderson Monday so I could visit her, but I said not too and I will travel there on my day off next week to visit her. Amazingly strong Ruby is. You can’t even tell when she is dying. She is very alert and walked outside to potty today. The Vet told me that she really is such a good dog. Due to her bleeding though, she wants to keep her until the staples come out to prevent any kind of problems during this healing process.
