Ruby on the mend

Ruby is cuddling with me on my feet.  She does this often nowadays and is always by my side constantly as she can be.  She is taking her meds nicely and should be able to get these stitches out on Monday night!!!  I plan to write an essay on her Saturday.   I haven’t been posting as much because things are starting to settle down for her.  I really think she is going to be okay now.

Question, what is the best rehab to give to her?  swimming?  agility?  Or is there a rehab center near Muncie, Indiana?

Ruby update 10217

She was fine for the Vet all night.  Didn’t make a peep about her pain.  She is being sent home tonight with gabapentin and more tramadol.  I paid her amputation bill also and will receive a copy of the final paid bill tonight.  Let’s hope this entire process is coming to a close!!

I asked if she thought it might be plp and told her that I was reading a lot about it last night.  She said I could read anything I wanted, but she didn’t know what caused her to yelp/cry like that.  She said maybe her bone got caught on an inside suture and caused pain.  She would send home medicines and asked for me to send money for the bill.

I don’t know.  I just want the staples out and her on the way to a better furever.

Ruby back in Hospital

I had to take Ruby back into the Hospital tonight.  She was in extreme pain when I came home from work.  Crying, yelping out loud and wouldn’t eat.  I called her Vet on her cell phone, she didn’t answer.  I called the hospital in Anderson and she was still there and told me to bring her in.  She ended up keeping her and is taking her home for the night to Ft. Wayne.  She wanted to see what she was doing.  I told her she probably needed Gabapentin and a stronger pain med.  The tramadol is not helping her at all.  I have never heard her cry or yelp like this, in so much pain.  I did removed the cone and she went straight towards that incision.  The Vet pushed on the incision, but she didn’t seem to show discomfort.  I really do not know what is going on.  She has been fine this entire week up until tonight when I got home.  This just devastates me.  I am trying so hard for her, she is fighting very hard to get thru this, but we can not seem to get ahead of it still.

I also do not believe I will be able to apply for the grant to help me pay for her bills as I still have not received the bill for all of this and I only have 14 days to submit it all.  I do not think I will be able to do it in time for the 60 days after surgery.  I’m overwhelmed.

Ruby is very well

Ruby is doing very well.  I spoke with the Vet this morning.  Totally forgot to ask her for my bill, but I called regarding the antibiotics.  She called some into Walgreens for me to pick up.   No seepage ever since she was restitched.  It looks very nice and much better than before.  I keep her cone on so she doesn’t get the chance to rip these out.  Briefly I take it off for her to eat or take a break from having it on.  I’d rather be safe than sorry and she has been thru enough.  We do not want any more surgeries!  Here is a pic of the incision from last night.
