Nervous to bring her home after surgery. She use to love to jump on the bed or furniture and I know that she will no longer be able to do that right now, if ever again…? We are newbies to this handicap that has befallen us. I’m reading and reading this website. I just keep thinking… clean and get everything prepared for her return later this week. Buy more rugs for the wood floors, get elevated dog bowls, buy a new dog bed or two, find better dog food.. the list goes on. Not to mention… I have to work and do not know where to keep her while I’m at work. I have a small room I can put her in, but will she be well while I’m gone? worries. I plan to see about have the Vet office keep her for the first few days after the amputation, but it is expensive. They have 24/hr. care and I want her to be successful following this amputation surgery. I feel unequipped to handle her recovery almost, but I know that all will be well no matter.

Meet Ruby
Ruby 2yrs old, left for amputation of back left leg today. Now the new chapter of our lives together begins…. Ruby the TriPawed Service Dog
“Ruby’s strength is everlasting. I admire her drive and loyalty. The way she howl’s woo-woo. She does this thing with her front legs. She kind of sits pretty and grabs my arms pulling me towards her. Snug in the position she likes, she crosses her paws around my wrist and holds me close. I also like how she groans every time she lays down and settles in. She’s a lucky charm with the longest tail. I enjoy her very much as she walks beside me, always so close and steady. Beautiful and quiet. She is a great communicator when she wants something. As serene as she is, she is also fierce and would protect us to death. This girl, she came into our lives as a surprise and I’m thankful for that gift of her. I have learned so much from her and with her. This cancer. I don’t know what to say. I noticed it on her immediately. It hasn’t stopped growing. Yea she’s just a dog and maybe we are fighting a losing battle, but we still live. I am amazed at her strength through this. The time is drawing close and her days are numbered….
