amputation postponed

I called to check on Ruby because I hadn’t heard from the Vet. Β She contacted me back and told me she wasn’t able to get to her in time today and will have to try and fit her in tomorrow. Β  πŸ™

  1. Geesh. I can only imagine how this felt for you. I hope you can relax and know that Ruby is in good hands. Here’s a big hug for you.

  2. Geez! What’s going on at that Vet Clinic??
Ruby’s been at the Vets three xays now, right? Sp when you called yesterday they were “starting soo “. Then you were told it woukd be today. Then you had to call them (they didn’t call you) only to find out they didn’t donitntodayneither and they will TRY and get tonitntomorrow?

Did I get all that right? And this is an Orthopedic Surgeon right? This is now the third time they are scheduling zRuby for surgery….and each time YOU had to jnitiate a call to find out what was going on??? I really hope they aren’t charging you a lot! Generally dogs go jn the day of the surgery, spend one night, maybe two, and rhen go home!

I would DEFINITELY call in the morning and say you will come pick Ruby up and bring her back when you know for certain her surgery is scheduled! Poor Ruby!!!

Okay….I’m through with my rant now! Sorry they are putting you and Ruby thro4uh this!

We’re here cheering for that sweet girl! πŸ™‚ And for you!

    1. She wasn’t very nice. She said that because I’m getting a “price break” That she wasn’t able to get to her yesterday and she hoped to get to her this afternoon and she had to fit her into the schedule that is already booked. That she wasn’t going to do an hour operation in only 15 min. Kind of shocked me. I just called to ask how Ruby was, I was under the impression that she was having the surgery yesterday and just wanted to check on her. She made it seem that I should be grateful that they are doing it. That wasn’t what it was about. I had three or four options of who to go with. The Vet that has her offered to take her to Ft.Wayne to her private practice and use her as a learning tool for her students or staff. I’m really not sure. The vet seemed stressed yesterday. She said Ruby was fine and she ate her food and she would give her an extra pat on the head for me. I hung the phone up and was like wtf

She also mentioned how she would be having Ruby until Monday when she goes back to Anderson Hospital to work again. It was pretty damn rude how she responded to me.

This is being done by a different Vet that works at the same hospital and also has a private practice in Ft. Wayne. She OFFERED to do it for $750 because I couldn’t afford the $2200. I even had a cheaper option that I didn’t go with. The surgical specialist tried to find me an alternate route instead of putting her down for a cheaper amputation. I hope she doesn’t get butchered. πŸ™ I hope for the best. Ft. Wayne is a couple hours from where I live, or I would have picked her up.

  3. I’m sorry you and Ruby are going through this. I imagine it’s incredibly frustrating. I live in the Indy area and my dog had his amputation a week ago. If you need anything or if Ruby needs a tripawd friend when they are recovered let me know.

    1. That would be nice, we’d love to be friends. We live in Muncie, Indiana. How is your dog post op one week later? I was going to have Indy do the amputation, but this other vet offered her services. I don’t know, so stressed out. She is still bleeding a lot and has been opened up twice today now. scared for her.

      1. I’m actually in Muncie for the work today but live in Fishers. Once you get Ruby home we’ll have to schedule something. Toby has good days and bad days. His energy level the last day has been low but he’s on several drugs. I understand your fear. This is a very scary process but you’ll get through it and Ruby will too. Keep using this site. It’s helped me a lot.

  4. I am so shocked and sorry! Poor Ruby and you. No excuse that you are getting a price break—she agreed to it!
    Hoping for good news today.
