10917 Stitches to be removed

I don’t know if it is normal, but Ruby’s stump feels hot.  Kind of like the cancer tumor felt hot is what it reminds me of and it seems there might be a build up of fluid inside the stump, but I’m not a Vet and I do not know if I’m just being paranoid or what.  It almost seems like I can put my hand over this bulge.  Flashbacks to what it was like when this first occurred.  I guess the Vet will know tonight when I take her in to have the stitches taken out if it is normal or not.  I didn’t notice it like this before.  I’m venting and still worried.  I will update you all when we get home later tonight after these sutures are removed.

I took some pictures of her incision last night, but they are too big to post here.  I don’t know why that is.  Some pictures I’m able to post and others I can not.  I put them on her facebook page Ruby on three the celebrity GSD, if you would like to see them.  I will try to get a video and post it to Youtube then add it here.

one more day

The stitches are due to come out finally tomorrow night.  She is on the 24 hr countdown!  I am taking her back to the Vet who did her amputation to take the stitches out and say our final goodbye.  I like that we can go for a night time appointment because it is easier for me to take her after work.  Wish us luck that all goes well.  Ruby has had enough medical issues and just wants to be her dog self again.  Just one more day!

Ruby with the eyes that sparkle

I caught Ruby licking her wound twice now today.   I only take the cone off briefly for her to eat and sometimes give her a break from it.  She took advantage of my kindness and now she has to leave it on.  A few more days is not too long, after having come so far now.  Will she finally be able to grow her hair back without it needing to be shaved for surgeries?!  That will be nice to see her with all of her coat grown out again.  She didn’t rip any of the stitches, thankfully.  She was a little tender to touch when I pressed the line and felt the fur wet.  It was time for her night meds and I just dosed her.  She is resting nicely on the floor in front of me.
