let freedom ring

The staples and stitches are finally out.  Yes she does have swelling around her bone.  Nothing to be concerned about as long as she is eating and drinking, which she is.   Since we arrived home she has smiled from ear to ear!  She is really happy.  She has the same expression on her face as she did when I visited her for the first time in Ft. Wayne, after the amputation took place.  I love that face.  I briefly took a couple pics of it, but she wasn’t cooperating the best and kept moving around, blurring them.  I will get some good ones when she settles back in.  I am supposed to keep the cone on her for a few more days, at least when I leave her alone.  (swelling around the bone)  I told her about it being hot and that was her answer.  I knew it didn’t look right.  I didn’t talk with her very long.

So for this swelling… what do you suggest I do for that, if anything?  I have inquired about a rehab specialist who is mobile from Indy, but I haven’t heard back yet from her.  I’m still going to be easy with her for the time being.

it’s not letting me post the pics, still saying too big.  I’ll figure it out I took a video I will put a link too.

That swelled spot is still hot to touch.  🙁

  1. YAAAAAAAAAY!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 RUBY IS STITCHE FREE!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 And almost CONE FREE!!!

RUBY HAS HER HAPPY FACE ON!! 🙂

Her incision looks good!!!! 🙂 Guess she wants to make sure Ruby doesn’t start nipping at the incision as everything scabs over. And as you know first hand stitches can itch and so can the incision site even after they are out!

Not sure what the Vet was referring to about swelling around the bone. Maybe you can ask your regular Vet about it after everything settles down. Clearly the surgeon isn’t concerned about it, so you shouldn’t be either. I would think if she felt like you needed to “do something” about it, she would have told you.

Let’s focus on what is so good about tonight!! 🙂

Ruby’s fur is starting to grow grow, even though shesw been restitched twice!! I can see it filling in slowly but surely.:-) 🙂

She only has to wear the cone a little bit each day for a couple more days! 🙂 🙂

RUBY IS HAPPY!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 RUBY HAS HER HAPPY FACE ON!! 🙂 🙂

RUBY IS GRINNING EAR TO EAR!!! 🙂

The important thing is to BE MORE DOG!! Ruby isn’t worried about a thing!

Ruby doesn’t worry about a thing!

Ruby lives in the present…..she lives in the moment…..she makes every moment the best moment ever!!

Ruby doesn’t focus on everything she’s been through this past month. Ruby nust knows that right now she is happy and feels great and that’s all that matters….that and being home with you and her pack!! 🙂

You can finally relax and just enjoy all this excellent quality time you and Ruby are having! 🙂

Sorry, I’m no help on figuring out pocture size.

You can go over to Rubysw other “thread” in the forum (Meet Ruby) and maybe you can post them over there too if they won’t fit here. I have no idea if that would work or not!

ICE CREAM AND CAKE FOR EVERYONE!!!! We have a lot to celebrate!! 🙂 🙂

    Love and hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

  2. Everypawdy do the HOPPY DANCE for Ruby! YAAAAY! She’s looking SO good.

I’m not sure if that is even swelling, it’s hard to say but it does look pretty normal to my non-vet eyes.

She’s smiling? And eating and drinking and pooping? What a relief! This is HUGE!

  3. If you are trying to contact the rehab vet I suggested I would try calling her. I don’t know if the online contact thing works because she didn’t respond to that when I tried it but she picked up the phone right away when I called. She also responds to direct e-mails.

    Her phone is 317-688-1526
